This is Lt. Joe Langdell.

When he died this week at age 100, the nation is closing a chapter in its history.

He was the last oldest living crewman of the USS Arizona when it sank in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

“He talked to anybody about it,” John Langdell of Spearfish, S.D., one of his two sons, says. “He relished being the center of attention. That was part of his makeup.”

His remains will be interred at an appropriate spot. The USS Arizona.
