Comedy as an act of courage

As he does from time to time, Jon Stewart went into serious mode last night in the wake of the killings of the journalists in Paris.

“It’s a stark reminder that the legislators, and journalists, and institutions are not in any way the enemy,” he said.

Thinking twice before making a joke “is not the way it’s supposed to be,” he said.
