Little Falls cracks down on Christmas displays

We almost made it all the way through Christmas without a controversy over a Christmas display.

In Little Falls, a man was told to remove his Christmas display because it wished people a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, the Morrison County Record reports. The display violated the city’s sign ordinance and rules are rules.

“I’ve been doing this every year. We spent many, many hours putting these decorations together,” Randy Bjrekness said.

In Little Falls, you can have up to two signs or flags on your property and that’s it. Bjrekness has a permanent American flag already displayed. It was given to him by the color guard after his father died.

That leaves room for just one more sign.

A city official says there once was a holiday exemption in Little Falls, but there were questions of constitutionality.
