Three American sailors were attacked in Turkey today by members of the Turkey Youth Union, described the Navy as “ultra right wing.”
The significance of the plastic bags? A Turkish news organization says it’s a reference to the “hood event” of 2003. In a raid by American forces on Turkish Special Forces in Sulaymaniyah in northern Iraq, Turkish troops were taken hostage and their heads were covered with bags.
Video of that didn’t go over well in Turkey either.
