The Chisholm-based Minnesota National Guard 114th Transportation Company came home from nine months in Afghanistan this morning.

On Saturday, the Guard’s 204th Area Support Medical Company left for a tour in Egypt. It wasn’t quite the same.

    I look forward to the day when our National Guard can once again become “weekend warriors” and not have to bear the burdens intended for active duty military, such as lengthy deployments overseas. It’s not happening anytime soon.
