In a time of tragedy, lemonade delivers a girl’s message

When a police officer is killed in the line of duty, there’s not a lot individuals can do. We’re powerless in that fact. So, as in other times of tragedy, we light a candle, write a note, or leave some flowers. Reminding us and others that we’re connected in this world of anonymity is about all we can do.

So we raise a cup of lemonade to Fil Sans of Inver Grove Heights, who set up a stand and sold lemonade, freezes and rainbow loom bracelets on the sidewalk over the weekend, KSTP reports. She was raising money for the family of Mendota Heights officer Scott Patrick, who was shot to death last week.

In a few hours, she raised about $2,000.
