In Wild win, the legend of pink begins

When you’re facing elimination in the Stanley Cup playoffs, you’ll grasp at anything.

The Wild was on the edge last night against the Colorado Avalanche, having coughed up a two-goal lead. The Minnesota sports fan was sure this would end badly. How could it not? It’s Minnesota sports.

Then there was a little struggle along the boards in the third period and the woman in pink took charge.

“Whoop his ***, Charlie,” she implored, speaking for an entire state while not spilling a drop from her ill-chosen brew.

She became an instant Twitter star via the #LadyInPink hashtag. In minutes she was identified as Alyssa Nelson (@snowflakeNelson), and a few minutes after that, the Wild scored a goal, added two empty netters, and sent the series to a decisive seventh game.
