On social networks, astronaut obit is one small step back on facts

Social networks can sometimes — more often than we’d like, really — illuminate and amplify the ignorance of the occasional news consumer.

Twitter is providing a perfect example today where people this morning greeted an ABC News online report of  Neil Armstrong’s death.

The first human to set foot on the moon actually died a year ago Sunday.  The story had the wrong date.
