Twins comeback is already greatest in team history

Somebody better tell the Cleveland Indians that the Minnesota Twins are coming. The team’s bullpen made this video this week, a skit in which the team plots how it’s going to get to the World Series, and past the Tigers, Yankees, and Rangers.

No mention of the Twins?

The Twins started this month 16 1/2 games behind the Indians. Last night, after Chris Perez of the Indians — he’s in the video — gave up a homerun in the 9th, the Twins pulled to within 6 games (in the loss column) of Cleveland.

The Twins may be the best team ever to have the worst record in baseball. They’ve also already made history by clawing their way out of the hole which they dug for themselves.

Only once — 1966 — has the team gained more than 3 games in the standings at any point in the season once they dropped 16-and-a-half games out of first (which they’ve done countless times). Having dropped 16 1/2 games out that year, they finished 9 games behind the Baltimore Orioles.

They’ve cut 10 games off the lead this year.

Twins fans are understandably anxious to see if the team can make history. It already has.
