Today’s Alice in Wonderland moment

Students who stay up all night to study have lower GPAs than those who don’t.

Is it because the student isn’t getting sleep, or is it because the student who may not be as bright feels the need to study more?

What a dumb study. Sure, you can measure the outcome, but you can’t measure the starting point. Could it be that the students who didn’t pull all-nighters were better prepared to begin with, through adequate note-taking, review of material before the last minute, and having read the textbooks? This is just really Duh.

I don’t think that the brightest of the bright would stay up all night. I never did!

On its surface the study may appear silly and when you go deeper it still is, unless you have been up all night.
