Other projects roll forward — Southwest LRT doesn’t

The Metropolitan Council has long warned that delays could cost the Southwest light rail project its place in line for federal funding. The council recently released data that show it wasn't kidding.

Last year, the Southwest line was one of ten projects nationwide competing for money from the federal New Starts program. Since then, three new projects have joined the race, and two more are expected to jump in next year.

And while the Twin Cities project is expected to remain mired in the first phase of development through 2015, other projects are rolling forward.
