The pigs, a buff and brown male and a cream-colored female, are estimated to be about 5 months old.

"Did anyone lose a pair of pigs today?" the city asked followers of its Facebook page.

It's illegal to keep pigs as pets in Minneapolis. St. Paul, on the other hand, is open to all manner of hoofed creatures.

The pigs are being held at a city animal shelter.
