Benefit planned for family of Accent Signage shooting victim

A benefit is being held Sunday for the family of one of the Accent Signage Systems employees killed in the shooting in September.

Jacob Beneke, 34, had been a graphic designer at Accent Signage in Minneapolis. He was also an artist who created paintings and sculptures in his spare time.

The Maple Grove Arts Center is organizing a spaghetti lunch at noon Sunday. Center director Lorrie Link said the arts center will also raise money for Beneke's family by selling two of his paintings.

"They're very unique and very abstract, and kind of in orange colors and bright colors and typically Jacob's style," she said.

Beneke was among seven people who died in the shooting on Sept. 27. The money raised during the benefit will go to Beneke's wife, Iliyana, and 6-year-old son Radomir.

Here's more details about the benefit:

Tickets for an all you can eat spaghetti dinner from Z's Smokin Bonez, $10 per adult, $5 per child or $25 per family. Also, enjoy music by Chuck Skajewski, and for the kids (and adults) face painting and henna by Barbara Alldaffer.
