It’s designed a mausoleum, a Swedish-American cultural center, and the sleek headquarters of General Mills. Now Minneapolis-based architectural firm HGA will get to add a new project to its portfolio: destination brewery.
Surly Brewing Co. announced today HGA will design the craft-beer maker’s $20 million complex combining a bar, restaurant, event center, beer garden and rooftop terrace. Surly’s real-estate consultant, TEGRA Group, worked with HGA as a project manager for the modern addition to the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis.
“I have had a picture of what our Destination Brewery will look like in my head for more than a year now and we’re sure HGA can make that vision a reality,” said Surly President Omar Ansari in a statement. “HGA’s unique designs are helping shape the Twin Cities and we want our project to have a positive lasting impression.”
There’s still no word on where Surly will build. In June, the company announced the site shortlist included its current town of Brooklyn Center, two sites in Minneapolis, and an undisclosed “inner suburban location.”
