Cities hungry for state bonding money

At least 35 local governments around Minnesota have joined the competition to win $47.5 million worth of state grant money designed to spur business development around the state.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development won't release the list of contenders until after the July 9 application deadline. But it's already clear requests will far outstrip available funds.

Based on phone calls, press releases and city council minutes, here are some of the projects we know are in the race.
