Hrbek joins Killebrew, Carew and Puckett in bronze

On Saturday, Kent Hrbek joined Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, Rod Carew and Kirby Puckett as the only Minnesota Twins players to be immortalized in bronze outside Target Field.

The date of the unveiling — April 14 — matched his player number, the number of years he played for the Twins, and the location of ceremony, outside Gate 14 behind home plate.

MPR’s Jim Bickal was there and sent along the photos below. And check out Cathy Wurzer’s interview with Hrbek from Friday’s Morning Edition.

First thought: Oh my god, he’s bigger than his statue. At least twice as big.

Second thought: Shouldn’t this statue be of Hrbek pulling Ron Gant off first in the ’91 Series? Isn’t that his biggest moment?
