Parades, Politicians and Pique?

According to the Associated Press:

Dayton said Friday he thinks lawmakers should spend the weekend in their legislative districts, hearing from their constituents.

4th of July weekend, with its community celebrations and parades, might be just the place for Minnesotans and their leaders to discuss our government shutdown.

I’ve been calling around to small towns in north central Minnesota (the above photo is from the parade in Pequot Lakes in 2010) asking chambers of commerce which politicians are signed up to march in their 4th of July parades.

Answer: Not many.

It’s not an election year.

Let us know if you see your elected representatives, and tell us about your conversations.

Oh yeah, the politicians will be in seclusion this weekend. Too bad.

It’s not an election year and I think they know that hard candy hurts if it hits you in the head. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them wearing a helmet!
