Daily Digest: Pain and loss to drug addiction

Good morning and welcome to Tuesday. They're voting in New York today, and we'll have special coverage on the radio tonight.  We're going to air radio station WNYC starting at 7 to see what it sounds like in the Empire State and then go through the evening with results and analysis. 1. Here's another in the MPR News series this week on opioid addiction. State Rep. Dave Baker, R-Willmar, knows first-hand the pain that addiction to the drugs is causing. He lost his son to an overdose. (MPR News)

2. The 17 delegates Marco Rubio won in Minnesota could wield a lot of power at the Republican National Convention in July. The delegates will be chosen over the next few weeks, and Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are expected to compete to try to win them over to be their second choice. (Star Tribune)

3. Gov. Mark Dayton is pushing a series of events this week to bring attention to improving water quality. He also wants to put pressure on lawmakers to approve his plan to help communities around the state upgrade their waste water and drinking water systems. (MPR News)

4. An administrative law judge says the price Minnesota puts on generating electricity is way too low because it doesn't factor in the whole cost of health problems and other societal costs tied to climate change. But businesses say adding to the cost of power in the state could put Minnesota at a big disadvantage. (MPR News)

5. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the frontrunners both in New York and for their parties' nominations. They spent the day before the primary campaigning in New York, as did Bernie Sanders. Ted Cruz is already looking ahead to upcoming contests in other states. (Washington Post)
