Dayton recovering, expected to leave hospital today
Gov. Mark Dayton is "very much his normal self" and is expected to be released from the hospital today after fainting on Sunday, a Dayton aide said this morning.
Dayton was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul Sunday after fainting at an event in Woodbury. His chief of staff said as the governor was speaking, he began to feel increased pressure in his lower back and passed out.
On Monday morning, Dayton senior adviser Bob Hume said Dayton was doing well, undergoing tests and taking fluids for likely dehydration.
Dayton, who turned 69 last week, has had a series of health problems in the past few years. He has had two spinal surgeries in the past three years and usually uses a cane.
