Good morning, and welcome to a new work week. With the Iowa Caucuses a week away there's a lot of news about the presidential campaign. Today most of the focus is on the Democrats. Here's the Digest.

3. Bernie Sanders says Hillary Clinton is desperate and that her campaign lacks excitement. (Washington Post)

4. Are Sanders and Clinton battling for the future of the Democratic Party? The New York Times says they are, so I guess so. (New York Times)

5. In an assessment of the contest for the Democratic nomination the current occupant of the White House says Clinton's status as the perceived frontrunner has been a disadvantage. (Politico)
