Ventura likes Trump too

Former Gov. Jesse Ventura has added Donald Trump to the list of 2016 presidential candidates that he’s rooting for.

Ventura got behind Trump today during his online interview program.

“I shocked my staff today,” Ventura said. “I came in and said, ‘you know what, as far as the Republicans are concerned, I said I hope Trump wins on the Republican side.’”

Ventura, who was interviewing former Trump campaign advisor Roger Stone, said Trump is being unfairly attacked by “mainstream media” and “Washington insiders.” But Ventura, a staunch independent, also stressed that he is neither a Republican nor a Democrat.

“Ultimately, I’d like someone else overall,” he said.

Ventura asked Stone if he thought Trump would ever ask him to be his running mate.

Last month, Ventura said he was backing Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid. He praised Sanders for challenging Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party nomination and said he would do anything he could to help Sanders.
