MN GOP launches ads against Dayton, Franken

Sen. Al Franken and Gov. Mark Dayton are the target of the Republican Party of Minnesota's first ad campaign of the election year.

The anti-Dayton ad targets the governor for what the party says is incompetent leadership on everything from the new health insurance exchange to the state's sex offender program.

The anti-Franken ad is one already running and paid for by his Republican challenger Mike McFadden. The party will help pay to air the ad in coming days. It ties Franken to President Barack Obama.

The party says the six-figure ad buy will run through Election Day.

At least some of that cash -- about $25,700 -- is going to two broadcast stations based out of the Twin Cities, according to documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission.
