Dayton heading to DC for campaign cash
WASHINGTON - Gov. Mark Dayton will head to Washington, D.C. next week for a pair of fundraisers.
The first event will be held at the Georgetown home of Dan and Sunita Leeds, who have contributed more than $1.6 million to Democrats and liberal causes, according to data from the Sunlight Foundation.
The second event is sponsored by the law firm Forbes-Tate, whose website notes the firm specializes in crafting "bipartisan lobbying and advocacy strategies" across a number of fields. One of the firm's employees is Hubert "Buck" Humphrey, a grandson of the former Vice President and DFL Sen. Hubert Humphrey.
The invitations do not list a minimum requested donation but note that Minnesota campaign finance law caps donations at $4,000 per election cycle.
Dayton will be getting an assist from DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who now occupies the Senate seat Dayton once held.
Klobuchar is billed as a "special guest" at both events.
