Entenza takes auditor challenge to TV

Former DFL state Rep. Matt Entenza released a new TV ad today for his state auditor campaign.

Entenza is challenging incumbent Rebecca Otto, the DFL party’s endorsed candidate, in the Aug. 12 primary.

The ad, titled “Do More,” does not mention Otto. But it states that Entenza believes the “state auditor can do more than balance the books.”

In addition, the ad says Entenza would protect pensions, uncover embezzlement and fraud and end “unnecessary tax giveaways” to big corporations.” There’s also a reference to his endorsement from Congressman Keith Ellison.

The ad is narrated by former TV news anchor Robyne Robinson, who was Entenza’s running mate in 2010 when he ran for governor, and some of the footage has a familiar look. Entenza lost that year in a three-way DFL primary.

Entenza’s campaign spokesman said the ad will begin airing on television next week. He did not provide specifics on the size or scope of the ad buy.
