First ballot shows another tight race

There was no endorsement for governor on the first ballot at the GOP state convention in Rochester, and all four candidates seeking t to run against Gov. Mark Dayton in November will be on the second ballot.

Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson came in first with 33.07 percent of the vote. He's among the candidates who have  pledged to abide by the party endorsement, meaning he won't compete in the August primary if he doesn't get the party's backing at the convention.

Here are the rest of the results:

Marty Seifert - 29.38 percent

Sen. Dave Thompson - 29.85 percent

Rob Farnsworth - 8.3 percent

It looks like delegates are in for another long night.
