DFL Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon said today that she’ll have an announcement “pretty soon” about whether she intends to be Gov. Mark Dayton’s running mate again this year.

But she won’t reveal her plans until sometime after a scheduled Monday meeting with Dayton to discuss the matter, Prettner Solon said. She added that the governor already knows her decision.

“I've been thinking about it for a long time, but I’d like to have that conversation with the governor,” Prettner Solon said.

Prettner Solon wouldn't tell reporters her plans, but the former state senator from Duluth said she’s been generally satisfied with her role as lieutenant governor.

“I've had a very good three years. I’m very pleased with the work that I've been doing on  a number of initiatives,” she said.

Prettner Solon made her comments following a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Capitol Security, which she chairs. The panel approved its latest set of recommendations for the Legislature. She has also served on the executive committee of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association.
