Bonding bill build-up gets web boost

The Minnesota Senate has unveiled a new website to highlight some of the public construction projects lawmakers will consider for a bonding bill during the 2014 session.

The site includes this self promotional video.

The site Build.MN includes photos and summaries of many proposed projects organized by region of the state.  The northeast section, for example, includes descriptions of a new Chisholm Municipal Services Building, further development of Vermillion State Park and renovations at Central Lakes College.

Sen. LeRoy Stumpf, DFL-Plummer, chair of the Senate bonding committee, encouraged Minnesotans to use of the web resource and offer comments.

“We all benefit when more people are engaged in the capital investment process,” Stumpf said in a news release,

The ranking Republican on the committee, Sen. Dave Senjem, R-Rochester, also weighed in.

“The bricks and mortar needs of Minnesota are many and varied,” Senjem said. “Senate Republicans look forward to working with Sen. Stumpf and our DFL colleagues in fashioning a bonding bill that not only works to address these needs but is able to garner broad bipartisan support.”

DFL Gov. Mark Dayton said last month that he will likely propose a $975 million bonding bill. He said his administration had received over $2.4 billion in project requests.
