The Republican Party of Minnesota is moving its headquarters from near the Capitol in St. Paul to Minneapolis, the party announced in a Monday morning news release.

The new location will be at 2200 East Franklin Ave. in the Seward neighborhood of  Minneapolis.  The Minnesota GOP has struggled with significant debt problems in recent years, and the new location will be less expensive  and will also put the party’s headquarters, “in the middle of everyday Minnesotans,” according to the release.

Republican Party Chairman Keith Downey called the upcoming move great “on many levels.”

“We are moving out from ‘inside the political beltway’ in St. Paul to be closer to the people,” said Downey.   “It is a visible and tangible sign that the Republican Party will be focused on regular Minnesotans and immersed in their circumstances.”

The state Republican Party will complete its move to Minneapolis by the end of January.

“It is a visible and tangible sign that the Republican Party will be focused on regular Minnesotans and immersed in their circumstances.”

Maybe they’ll get a big wake-up call and have some sense slapped into them?

I really wish the Party did make this move for PUBLIC reasons, but they took a good sized hit over the past 5 years. This was a money move pure and simple.

oh, this is going to be interesting…

The Republican Party wants to be “in the middle of everyday Minnesotans.” That’s good. Their new headquarters will be located in Minneapolis Ward 6, Precinct 2. In the 2012 election, Obama got over 90% of the vote in the precinct. Maybe the opinions of these “everyday Minnesotans” will rub off on the Republican Party.

The devolution of the Minnesota Regressive Party continues and that is a good thing. With any luck they will shrink themselves to a point where they can be drowned in a bathtub.
