DFL Senator Al Franken says he wants Congress to pass an immigration bill.

Franken held a news conference today to tout the immigration bill passed by the U.S. Senate.

Franken said the bill would provide a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are in the nation illegally, would allow a greater number of skilled immigrant workers into the country and would increase border security. Franken says the bill would also increase fines for employers who hire immigrants in the country illegally.

“If all you did was build a ten-foot fence and that’s all you did along the whole border, all you’d be doing is creating an industry for eleven-foot ladders in Mexico,” Franken said. “The thing that keeps people from coming over is the ability to enforce that people don’t hire people who aren’t documented.”

House Republican leaders say they want tougher border security measures, and are uneasy about granting a full pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are in the country illegally.

The Republican Party of Minnesota has four questions for Sen. Al Franken regarding Student Loan Rates

Why don’t you support the plan put forward by Congressman John Kline and passed by the U.S. House of Representatives to immediately lower college loan rates?

Do you disagree with President Obama that loan rates should no longer be set by politicians and should instead be connected to a market-based interest rate?

Do you really think proposing a bill two days before the deadline to put this problem off for another year is the responsible approach?

You have been on the Senate Education Committee for five years – why was that not enough time to come up with a permanent solution?

We are told we should re-elect Sen. Franken because he has “kept his head down” for five years, but college students and their hard-working Minnesota families need two hard-working Senators in Washington D.C.

Al supports the Immigartaion bill but apparently has not read all of it…Harry Reid added a pork barrel for a $ million plus for his state’s tourism..come on!!! They act like its their money they are spending.
