Jill Biden to campaign in Minnesota

Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden, will campaign in Minnesota next week.

Events aren’t finalized but a Democratic official says Biden will campaign in Minneapolis and Duluth on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20. This will be Jill Biden’s second campaign stop in Minnesota since Labor Day.

The announcement comes on the same day that Paul Ryan, the Republican nominee for Vice President, is scheduled to hold a private fundraiser in Minneapolis. Guests are being asked to give at least $1,000 to attend the event. Couples who give $25,000 can attend a private dinner with Ryan.

Ryan has no public events scheduled in the state – a signal that Minnesota may be losing the swing state status it gained in prior election cycles.

Mitt Romney held a private fundraiser in Minnesota in August but held no public events.

Meanwhile, the Obama campaign has made several stops in the state. President Obama last campaigned here in June and Vice President Biden campaigned in Minneapolis and St. Paul in August.

Swing state status? Well, Minnesota is the only state that hasn’t voted for a GOP president in my lifetime; it’s not really been a swing state for a long, long time, regardless of anyone’s belief that it is. In any case, lack of campaigning doesn’t mean that it can’t flip to the GOP so much as it indicates that no one believes it would be critical to any candidate reaching 270 EV. For instance, then-Sen. Obama had little reason to campaign in Indiana—a traditional Republican state he ended up winning—not because he couldn’t win the state, which he did, but because Indiana was never going to be the state that put him over the top. IA, CO, NV, NH, OH, FL, VA, and even WI could be the closest state that puts either Obama or Romney over the top. MN could conceivably go to Romney were he to win in a landslide, just as IN went to Obama last time, but neither state would be critical in reaching 270 EV and therefore neither candidate has much reason to campaign in either.

More and more leaks keep opening up in Obama’s election map. The dam is about to burst.

Please Jill . Do not cackle. Just ask Mn. voters to vote…..GOP and then all will be forgiven. How common sense voters in Mn. can vote for any loony leftist Dem is now a case study for the ages.

Ryan should do some kind(s) of public appearance(s) while he’s there – turn the temp. up a notch at least! ;)
