Cravaack continues to lead Nolan in fundraising

Eighth District Congressman Chip Cravaack's campaign says it raised $227,000, October 1st through October 17th. The Republican incumbent ended the latest reporting period with $904,000 in campaign cash on hand.

The new numbers put Cravaack's fundraising total for the 2012 election cycle at $2.16 million.

Cravaack's Democratic challenger, former Congressman Rick Nolan has not released his latest fundraising numbers. But for the year through September, Nolan had raised $814,000.

Although the two candidates bring millions to the race, spending by outside groups is far greater. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, outside spending on Minnesota's 8th District stands at more than $6.3 million. The center's analysis finds spending against Cravaack is outpacing spending to oppose Nolan, by about $1 million.

UPDATE:

Cravaack's DFL challenger, former Congressman Rick Nolan raised $198,000 during the latest reporting period, putting Nolan's running total at a little more than $1 million. Nolan had $477,000 cash-on-hand as of October, 17, 2012.
