Ellison in Middle East again on trade mission

WASHINGTON - DFL Congressman Keith Ellison is in the Middle East for his second trip to the region in a month, this time on a trade mission, while Congress is on a two week recess.

Ellison's office hasn't yet confirmed the trip but the publication Arab News reports that the Minneapolis Congressman is in Saudi Arabia on a trip organized by the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council and the Minnesota Trade Office.

The story says Ellison is travelling with representatives of 10 companies from a variety of industries. He's led similar delegations to Saudi Arabia in past years.

Last month, Ellison was part of a delegation of House Democrats, including Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, who visited Egypt to discuss that country's transition to democracy and trade issues.
