Marchese files for open Minnesota Senate seat

Steve Marchese, who coordinates the Minnesota State Bar Association's pro-bono program, has filed to run for an open Senate seat in St. Paul and Falcon Heights. Governor Dayton declared a special election for the seat after he appointed DFL Sen. Ellen Anderson to chair the Public Utilities Commission.

Marchese, who lives in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood, is the latest Democrat to run in the district. He will join DFL Rep. John Lesch, former DFL Rep. Mary Jo McGuire and attorney Teresa Patton in the DFL Primary on March 29th.

There are two Republicans who will also run in a primary. Patricia Ann O'Keefe and Greg Copeland filed to run in the district.

Filing closes at 5pm today.
