Golnik drops RNC Committeeman bid

Ben Golnik announced today that he's dropping his bid to become Minnesota's RNC Committeeman. In an e-mail to supporters, Golnik said his family and work life kept him from running a "hands-on campaign."

"As many of you know, my wife and I were blessed with our second child on January 25. As my wife prepares to return to work in a couple weeks and my small business continues to grow, it became clear that I would not be able to conduct the type of hands-on campaign that State Central delegates deserve.

This was not an easy decision but the best for my family and me at this stage in our lives."

Golnik's decision to leave the race means former state Rep. Tom Emmer and Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson are vying for the job. GOP delegates will vote for the next RNC Committeeman at the MNGOP State Central Committee meeting on April 16th.
