The Daily Digest

Former GOP Gov. Arne Carlson announced this morning that he's backing Tom Horner's campaign for governor. Carlson and Horner, with the Independence Party, will travel parts of the state today to discuss the endorsement. The endorsement doesn't come as a huge surprise since Carlson has been off the GOP reservation for quite some time. It does, however, give Horner greater credibility among GOP moderates.

The endorsement comes one day after the Star Tribune wrote that Republican Tom Emmer doesn't have a lock on the business vote.

Louisiana Republican Governor Bobby Jindal will be in Minnesota today to raise money for Emmer's campaign. Former President Bill Clinton will be in town tomorrow to raise money for Democrat Mark Dayton.

On Friday, Emmer said he wouldn't make cuts to education funding if he's elected. He made the comments at a debate before school leaders. Listen to the full debate here.
