John Uldrich speaks to convention

John Uldrich wore a military flight speech as he spoke to delegates.

He criticized the party's process for endorsing a candidate, saying the IP ignored him. Noting that he won 4 percent in the caucus night straw poll, he said he was not contacted or supported by the party.

He called the party (which is chaired by his son Jack) "the gang that couldn't shoot straight."

He said he wants to make the IP a national party.

Uldrich said he would create jobs using a computer system he helped create.

Uldrich was the only candidate to use props. He had a map to demonstrate his computer system, a pair of old boots to show how much he's traveled around the state and a bag full of processed Minnesota prairie grass that he said could be used to help absorb oil from the leaking well in the Gulf of Mexico.

He was also the only candidate who didn't use a microphone for much of his speech, which will make it hard to include him in our on-air report at 7 tonight.
