Race for Governor

MPR says the two GOP candidates for governor are sparring over past tax votes. Tom Emmer backed property tax hikes in 2003 (Here are the Delano City Council minutes). Marty Seifert backed the health impact fee in 2005.

Seifert and Emmer also differ on whether they should have missed votes to attend Wednesday's Bachmann/Palin rally.

The hospitality union, UNITE HERE, backs Democrat Margaret Anderson Kelliher.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak says the city is ready for an expected cut in state aid and avoids layoffs.

Race for Congress

The National Tea Party movement is backing GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann's campaign.

They made the announcement at a rally outside of the State Capitol.

Republicans in Minnesota's 7th and 8th Congressional Districts meet this weekend to endorse challengers to DFL Rep. Collin Peterson and DFL Rep. Jim Oberstar.

Democrats in the 2nd and 3rd will meet this weekend to endorse challengers against GOP Rep. John Kline and Erik Paulsen.
