Vickerman won’t seek another Senate term
Another longtime state legislator has announced retirement plans.
State Sen. Jim Vickerman, DFL-Tracy, said today he will not seek an 8th term. Vickerman, is chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Veterans Budget and Policy Division. He was first elected in 1986.
In a news release, Vickerman noted accomplishments in family farming, green energy, ethanol and veterans homes.
"I couldn't be more proud to have been a voice for farmers and veterans at the Capitol, Vickerman wrote. "I'm stepping aside with the satisfaction that when it's done right, our government can and does serve people."
