Seifert targets three DFLers in fundraising letter.

Republican Marty Seifert sent out an e-mail to supporters today asking them to contribute to his campaign for governor. He said he hopes to raise $20k by the end of the year. Seifert also uses the solicitation to specifically name three of his DFL opponents, a clear signal as to who he considers the top candidates in the DFL field:

Tomorrow, the city of Minneapolis will lay off 25 police officers as a part of budget cuts. You may recall that just last year, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak spent $500,000 of taxpayer money on ten artist-designed drinking fountains. With Rybak's putting the priority on drinking fountains over police officers, imagine what he'd do as Governor of our great state.

Democratic Speaker of the House, Margaret Anderson Kelliher of Minneapolis, recently admitted to sidestepping campaign finance laws. Kelliher directed a number of donors, who had contributed the maximum to her campaign, to contribute to the DFL State Party to help her gubernatorial campaign. The State Campaign Finance Board is now investigating Kelliher's wrongdoing. Imagine this type of flawed judgment from the chief executive of Minnesota.

Last but not least, former U.S. Senator Mark Dayton continues to drone on with his simple economic recovery plan: "tax the wealthy!" It's scary to think how Dayton defines "wealthy." Economics 101 tells us we cannot tax our way to prosperity. Imagine how far "Governor" Dayton would set our state back, making Minnesota more unfriendly to families and businesses.

Question of the day: Should the other Democrats be offended that he didn't mention them in the fundraising e-mail?
