A possible presidential hopeful in town on Monday

Cynthia McKinney, a former Democratic Congresswoman from Georgia, will be in Minneapolis on Monday to garner support for a possible campaign for President. McKinney left the Democratic Party after she lost in a primary to a fellow Democrat in 2006. She then moved to California and started raising money to drum up support for a possible presidential run with the Green Party. For those who don't know, McKinney is the Congresswoman who got in a tussle with a Capitol Police officer. Here's the info of McKinney's event in Minneapolis:

Presidential Candidate Cynthia McKinney Visits Minnesota

For Immediate Release

A press conference will be held to introduce Cynthia McKinney to Minnesotans as a Presidential Candidate seeking Green Party endorsement.

The press conference will be at 10:30AM Monday December 10th at Midway Exchange Building in the Greenway Level Conference Room.

As a former Democratic congresswoman from Georgia, Cynthia McKinney is known for her integrity on many issues including exposing the systematic disenfranchisement of African American voters in the 2000 and 2004 elections. McKinney, who withdrew her membership from Democratic Party in March 2007, is now a member of the Green Party.

Cynthia McKinney is hoping to rally support for her candidacy and has got a new website up -- www. runcynthiarun.org -- which seeks campaign contributions "so we can get on with the business of getting Cynthia on fifty-one ballots and reaching out to the voters of this nation who are ready for a Green alternative to the wars being waged both at home and abroad by the War Parties and their candidates."

The Green Party has minor party status, where many endorsed candidates have elected positions throughout the state of Minnesota. In Minneapolis, there are currently one City Council member and one Park Board member that are Green Party endorsed elected officials.

Many individuals from all political spectrums are excited of Cynthia McKinney's candidacy and are looking forward to supporting her in this upcoming election year. McKinney will be here to have several campaign fund raising events in Minneapolis on December 9th and 10th.
