Johnson sets sights on county board

Former state representative Jeff Johnson has announced his candidacy for the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners.

The Republican from Plymouth will seek the seat being vacated by Commissioner Penny Steele. Johnson served three terms in the Minnesota House. Last year, Johnson was the Republican candidate for attorney general, losing to Democrat Lori Swanson.

In a news release, Johnson said he wants to continue Steele's legacy as a strong voice for fiscal discipline and accountability.
