The national news is topped today by another death. This time it's former President Gerald Ford who died at age 93. The New York Times has a 10 page obituary.
NPR also had several good pieces on Ford this morning with lots of archive audio.
The big story in Minnesota news involves...Minnesota news... specifically, the surprise sale of the state's largest newspaper the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The Strib is in the tough position of covering itself. The most disturbing aspect of the story? McClatchy sold the paper for less than 50 cents on the dollar compared to what it paid in 1998.
Both the Pioneer Press and MPR also have stories on the sale and what it means for the future of the newspaper industry. Bottom line--things aren't looking too good.
