Senate fundraising numbers

Republican Mark Kennedy released his numbers earlier today. Here’s the latest in the fundraising race:

Democrat Amy Klobuchar raised $700,000 between October first and October 18th. She has 1.2 million dollars in the bank as of October 18th. That’s more than double what Republican Mark Kennedy has on hand. He reported raising $536,87740 thousand dollars in the last reporting period and had about $561,983 left as of October 18th. Kennedy still leads in the total amount raised in this campaign cycle. He’s brought in $9.1 million. Klobuchar raised a total of $8.62 million. The two candidates will meet in three more debates between now and election day.

The conventional wisdom is that Kennedy has closed the gap. The only problem is there’s no polling out to confirm this and all the talk about “mo” could be an attempt to get some just by saying they’ve got it.

To be down almost 2-1 in money … down in the polls with less than two weeks to go is about an unenviable position as one can be in in politics.

What conventional wisdom are you citing? The wisdom of Michael Brodkorb, John Hinderaker, and AAA? Rasmussen just spit out yet another poll showing Kennedy down double digits. Even the Kennedy campaign is conceding that they’re down high-double-digits. There’s no evidence from any poll anywhere to indicate Kennedy has made any kind of meaningful move. I don’t who you’re relying on for conventional wisdom, but I’d recommend you look for new outlets; if this is wisdom, I’ll take stupidity anyday.

Yes, that was badly worded. Should read “The conventional wisdom of Kennedy backers…”

(I haven’t read KvM or Brodkorb today)

Fair enough. And I don’t blame Kennedy backers for daring to dream…reality will come soon enough.
