Klobuchar/Hatch lead in latest WSJ poll

(Posted on behalf of Tom Scheck)

The latest Wall Street Journal poll has DFLer Amy Klobuchar leading Republican Mark Kennedy. The poll, taken between August 29th and September 5th, has Klobuchar polling at 49.4% and Kennedy polling at 40.1%. There’s a margin of error of +/- 4.1 percentage points. Zogby writes that this is “Klobuchar’s biggest lead in the polling project this year.”

DFLer Mike Hatch also leads Republican incumbent Tim Pawlenty but at a much smaller margin. Hatch is polling at 42.2% to Pawlenty’s 40.5% which is well within the margin of error of +/-4.1 percentage points. Zogby writes that Hatch has edged ahead of Pawlenty in the last two polls. Independence Party candidate Peter Hutchinson polls under 15% in match-ups featuring Hatch and Pawlenty, Pawlenty and Lourey and Pawlenty and Steve Kelley (who is not running for governor anymore but is running for attorney general).

So a summary of the most recent round of polling would be Zogby & Gallup showing a slight lead (within the margin of error) for Mike Hatch; and Rasmussen and SurveyUSA showing bigger leads (outside the margin of error) for Governor Pawlenty. Something for everyone! 🙂
