Heading into the weekend

It was a busy week and it’s only going to get busier as we inch closer to election day. Here’s a rundown of the weekend events. Former President Bill Clinton will speak at the DFL Unity Dinner/Fundraiser for Amy Klobuchar on Saturday evening. We’ll have a story on the event for Sunday morning.

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be in Rochester on Sunday raising money for GOP incumbent Gil Gutknecht. Gutknecht’s DFL challenger, Tim Walz, will also be busy on Sunday. Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha will campaign with Walz. The two are running for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District.

Murtha, who is calling for U.S. troops to get out of Iraq, will also appear at a campaign event with DFLer Coleen Rowley. Rowley is running for Congress in Minnesota’s Second District against Republican incumbent John Kline.

Finally, Jesse’s back! Former Governor Jesse Ventura recorded two radio spots for Peter Hutchinson. Hutchinson, like Ventura, is a member of the Independence Party. You can listen to the two ads here and here.
