Emily’s List backs Swanson

Emily's List, a group that supports pro-choice female candidates, announced its endorsement of Lori Swanson. Swanson is the DFL candidate running for Minnesota Attorney General. Republican Jeff Johnson and Independence Party candidate John James is also on the ballot. Here's the e-mail from Emily's List president about the endorsement:

"In Minnesota, EMILY’s List Political Opportunity Program is supporting Lori Swanson, who is running for Attorney General. As Attorney General, Swanson would be the state’s chief legal officer and responsible for protecting the public interest of the state and its people.

Swanson currently serves as Minnesota Solicitor General, a post she has held since 2003. Before then, Swanson served as Deputy Attorney General for four years. As Solicitor General, Swanson oversees and directs the state's litigation, manages staff attorneys, appears in court on behalf of the state of Minnesota, and champions concerns of patients, policyholders, consumers, and citizens.

Support from members like you allows EMILY’s List to run and expand this great program. Thank you for all that you’ve done to help us continue the critical work of the Political Opportunity Program."

This endorsement means Seanson will see plenty of bundled contributions from donors across the country. Amy Klobuchar, a Democrat running for U.S. Senate, and Patty Wetterling, a Democrat running for Congress, are two of the other Minnesota candidates who have the support of Emily's List.
